Description
The Ocean Oasis Water Resilience Initiative deploys wave-powered desalination technology on the coast of Gran Canaria, producing fresh water for the island's tourism-dependent economy. The project addresses water scarcity — a growing financial, operational, and strategic risk for hospitality operators in the Canary Islands. Each Water Impact Credit represents one cubic metre of renewable fresh water produced through zero-emission desalination, verified by Bureau Veritas with lifecycle assessment by ClimatePoint. The project aligns with CSRD, TNFD, and GHG Protocol reporting frameworks, providing buyers with auditable impact data tracked on a blockchain-based ledger. Pricing tiers range from Destination Protection (7 NOK/m³) to Strategic Water Transfer (10-12 NOK/m³) depending on volume commitment.
