The 1,337 daa forest contains old-forest remnants of spruce and pine with broadleaf elements in lower terrain, providing habitat for capercaillie, black woodpecker and red squirrel. Under a unified preservation agreement with the landowner, no logging, drainage or land conversion will take place for a minimum of 30 years. The total discounted climate benefit is estimated at 7,319 tonnes CO2. It is presented as the first Fossagrim Habitat Forest.
